It is a well-known fact that summers in Italy are incredibly hot and in spite of this people love spending time outdoors because there are lots of things to see and do.

Of course there is an option to pack a bag and travel to the sea or mountains where temperatures are more bearable than in the cities. But if you are more into city life, there are things you do there in summer. Here are some examples of what you can do in Milan, Rome, Florence and Naples.

  • Milan. There are lots of things to do in Milan all year round including summer. The city offers amazing nightlife and the many events organized to entertain tourists and locals in the hotter months. Apart from appreciating architectural beauty of the city you may visit Milan’s center of cultural activities, the Castello Sforzesco. The L’Estate Sforzesca music festival is held here from June to the 15 th of August. Some of the best musicians and directors in the world gather in the castle to perform jazz, ethnic or traditional music. Entry to the castle is always free. Also the Castello Sforzesco hosts special tours and art exhibitions planned especially for the hot season.
  • Summer in big Italian citiesFlorence. Florence is a beautiful Renaissance city boasting amazing architecture. The center of city’s life is in the Estate Fontina where all the events, concerts and festivals are held. Florence offers everything needed to keep locals and tourists entertained during the hot season. You will also find dance and theatre performances in the city.
  • Rome. This is a perfect city to spend time in even during hot weather. You will find lots of museums and palaces open for visits during the hot season. The city has also been organizing different summer events lasting until September. You can also take a stroll along the Tiber or visit one of Rome’s waterparks.
  • Naples. Summer in Naples is the best time of the year to stay out all day and fully enjoy the sunny weather on the beach. The city is located on the sea so can really enjoy the heat while bathing.
